This was a large commercial project undertaken by Collins Construction, our clients scope of work was to modify a vast number of pipe work systems to create room for a new high profile attraction to be installed. The pipe work ranged from small 2 inch heating systems up to 10 inch Low Temperature Hot Water systems.
Pipefreezing Services Ltd. was chosen as the supplier of pipe freeze isolation services for the whole project, lasting several months. The challenges were many, in particular difficult basement working conditions, lack of electronic communication methods, high ambient temperatures and limited access.
PSL begun this contract by providing free of charge consultation and visits to site to establish feasibility, a safe method of working and a schedule of works; in addition to carrying out risk assessments and surveys of the working areas. Once this pre-contract phase was complete PSL were awarded the order and the project begun.
Over the course of these works many challenges were presented by the working environment and limits to system down time with the difficulty of achieving freeze isolations increased by high ambient temperatures. PSL were also called on a number of occasions for last minute additions to the works that were requested by the main contractor, PSL were able to provide a timely response and provide these extra pipe freeze isolations at a reasonable cost and in a timely manner.
Overall we achieved our aim of providing a safe and quality service and completed this project to a high level of client satisfaction.
