Victoria Palace Theatre Renovation

This project, undertaken by a major builder was a large scale renovation or one of London’s historic theatres, requiring demolition works, reconfiguration of existing systems, and for an upgrade to fire safety systems.

The problem:

The client was required to install a new and complete fire suppression system, including sprinklers and hose reels to meet modern safety regulations, the plan was to isolate the old fire main in the basement using existing valves on the incoming pipe work. These valves were proven not to isolate fully, meaning that they could not cut into the old pipe work safely and reconnect to their new pre-installed system.

The solution:

PSL were called to discuss the possibility of freezing the old incoming main, in order to provide the safe isolation needed by the client to be able to install a new isolation valve, connect to the new system and to allow drain down and demolition of the old one. We provided a comprehensive site survey the day after the initial phone call, so that our client was assured of the feasibility of using our services before placing an order with us.

PSL attended the site soon after and provided the freeze isolation required safely and efficiently, the client was able to cut into the old pipe work with the confidence a Liquid Nitrogen freeze provides and was able to install their new valve and reconnect to his new system without any problems.

Pipefreezing enabled a quick and sure solution to the client and allowed works to stay on track, call PSL today to discuss your freezing requirements.
